Mt. Marami – Silyang Bato with Pantihan Falls sidetrip

Mountain: Mt. Marami (405+ masl)
Falls: Pantihan Falls (man-made)
Location: Maragondon, Cavite

In the early days of summer, hiking was probably the second option next to a beach trip. And yet, we opted to hike the famous mountain in Cavite next to Mt. Pico de Loro, which is Mt. Marami – Silyang Bato. My 30th mountain has exceeded my expectations.

Going to Cavite

Again, we joined an organized hike by Caviteñong Gala which was led by Kuya Mike at that time and met at McDo Shaw around 2:00a.m. We arrived at the jump-off point at Brgy. Ramirez, Magallanes, Cavite around 4:30a.m. and immediately started the climb after prepping up.

The Hike

Our group, consisting of 13 participants including Jay, Aby, Lyra and I, was welcomed by a cemented road as we began the climb. It was gradually inclining and declining and the cemented road became the actual trail as we trudged on the warming-up part of the mountain. It was like that for the first hour of the hike. As we reached the second registration in the area, it was already 6:00a.m. and the sun was starting to rise.

Mt. Marami was a very challenging mountain because even if its ascents were not that hard, the looooong way towards the summit together with the scorching heat of the sun made the climb harder than it was. And that was the reason why we were frequently resting. It was as if the sun was stealing our breaths.

The trail continued for several hours and in between there were resting places where hikers can sit and eat while resting. Those resting places were also abundant of trees so we were covered from the heat of the sun. Around 9:00a.m., we can already see the summit of Mt. Marami at our right side.

The thing is, the trail towards Mt. Marami was not directly leading to its summit. Instead, it was as if we were rounding the whole mountain before we reach the summit. But after the long and winding journey, we were mesmerized as we saw the view from the summit of Mt. Marami.

We haven’t had the chance to take a picture at its Silyang Bato because there were a lot of other hikers lined up so we just took as many pictures as we want at the small rock protruded below.

Mt. Pico de Loro is can be seen at the summit and Jay and I really did feel nostalgic as we take pictures with it although it was far. If ever you read my blog about Mt. Pico de Loro, you will know that Jay and I’s lovestory started there. But I will not bore you with it again. Haha.

Descent

I really do love descending a mountain. After the hardship of the climb up, the decent was my favorite part because it was easier for me. (Not the case with Mt. Balingkilat.) But yeah, Jay and I did a lot of running whenever we descend a mountain that’s why it took us lesser time mostly to reach the jump-off. It was a back trail so we had an idea what to face head on.

Unfortunately, Aby and Lyra were having a hard time because their knees started to ache after an hour. So when we reached this resting area where several men have motorcycles for habal-habal, Kuya Mike and Jay decided that us three girls should ride it and they will just run because the others might already be at the jump-off. (There were only three motorcycles.) With no choice at all, we agreed and the habal-habal took the life out of me. Haha. It was my first time and the road was not that stable and I really don’t know what I felt that time but I was excited, afraid and happy at the same time. Haha. There were a lot of moments when I almost fell from it especially when I got really sleepy. Haha.

Arriving at the jump-off around 1:00p.m., the Aby, Lyra and I found out that the other weren’t there yet. Also, the owners of habal-habal charged us higher than the real cost. Tsk.

When Kuya Mike and Jay arrived, the others were just few yards away from them. We shouldn’t have ridden the habal-habal in the first place!

Pantihan Falls

There was nothing to mention about Pantihan Falls except that it is a man-made falls and was too overhyped with the pictures anyone can see on Facebook or Google. It was disappointing.

Note:
  • This is an organized hike by Caviteñong Gala and we paid the amount of P850.00 for everything, excluding food. They also gave personalized bag tags with our names in it! Check out their Facebook page for more events. (Jay and I’s third time with them!)
  • The habal-habal only cost P300.00/pax and the jeep costs P50.00/head. If you get lucky and see the jeep. HAHA
See you next climb!
